Alcohol Related Birth Injury (FAS/FAE) Resource Site
Service Centre - FAS/E Services in Alberta
Respite / Temporary Caregivers
Community Behavioral Services Services: Provides counseling, consultation and intensive, hands-on support to individuals with FAS or other alcohol-related birth defects regardless of their level of mental disability. FAS workshops for parents and agency staff are also provided.
Family Relief Services Services: Provides in-home relief and Host Family respite care for families who have a disabled individual of any age. Care is not provided for individuals who are a danger to themselves or others, or medically unstable individuals.
FAS/FAE and Related Birth Disorders Support Group Services: This group provides support, understanding and education for the families of those who have been affected by drug and alcohol related defects. They provide referrals, education, residential placement and housing information, vocational employment setting, parental support teams and education for the educator.
Keyano Home Support Services: WJS Alberta provides services for persons with disabilities, persons with dual diagnosis, etc. Some of the services include 24-hour residential care, in-home support and employment training.
Parkland Community Living and Supports Society Services: The Community Supports Division offers support to parents living in a family home with children who are mentally handicapped, developmentally delayed or sensory impaired.
Skills Training and Support Services Association Services: This program has a residential focus, which provides support to individuals with mental disabilities to help them live as independently as possible. An outreach service is offered and, if required, in-home assessment can be provided.
