"Caring For Your Future" Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Program Full Time - September 2002 The Lethbridge Community College Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Support Worker Program will offer a 22 week curriculum comprised of 10 courses including six weeks of practicum providing Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) theory, life skills management as well as an opportunity to work along side a preceptor while providing support to individuals affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol and/or drugs. This program is designed to provide students with the basic theoretical concepts and fundamental skills needed to provide optimal care and support to affected individuals and their caregivers within the home, school and community settings throughout the lifespan. The program incorporates the concepts of communication, observation and assessment, intervention strategies and family support guidelines specific to working with individuals who suffer from the irreversible injuries to the brain associated with FASD. Students are prepared to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary agencies within the community to create a valid, purposeful life plan for their clients.
